I have depression and i refuse to take medication for it as i had very bad experiences with the last two i was on. I also suffer with social anxiety.
I have been getting help for a year and have appointment to start CBT which i know will help but that is not for another month. I am also trying to get over a 5 year relationship which broke up nearly a year ago and my feelings are everywhere. I don't want to go back to my old ways where i couldn't get out of bed, i want to fight this but i need some help with my moods.
I was thinking about taking st johns wort but i know it is advise against taking it when you are on the pill. I am not sexually active so would it be ok to still take it when on the pill?
Has anyone found it helps with their anxiety and depression?I need advice, help please?
Hi Hope,
Firstly good job on getting CBT, ive been on a CBT programme for 6 weeks now and i was in a very dark and unhappy place and i am not fully out of it but i can already feel little changes taking place. My CBT is for depression, social anxiety, guilt and self-esteem, so i know what you mean about the moods.
Ive been offered the drugs and refuse to use them as i have heard awful stories so i agree with you sticking away from them.
My moods have been awful and if i don't watch them can be bloody horrible, and really do dibilitate daily life.
I havent tried st johns wort, so i cant comment. However, i have found some things to help and these are as follows.
+Red Raspberry tea.
+Cammomile tea
+Magnesium supplement.
+Walnuts
+Meditation
+Dark green veg, such as spinach - HELPS PRODUCE SEROTIN
+And vitamin B6.
Unfortunately these are just aids of support, nothing can mask the moods or change them apart from the process of therapy. Good luck with it.I need advice, help please?
I have found that support sites help because that way you can help others while also getting the help you need. I find that helping others is a good distraction and it shows that you arent alone and that other people understand what you have been through. Please look at my site and use it if you find it helpful. I am here to help you.
St. Johns worth is safe. Could you stop using the pill there you're not sexually active? It could take a few months before it works though. You can contact www.cumuluscounselling.org for video or email counselling while you're waiting to get behaviour therapy.
well you seem determined to not slip back in to the old routine which is a positive step so i would seek therapy which is very good. also leave coffee and tea plus sugar out of your diet. eat or drink plenty of cranberry juice. add plenty of fruit as well good luck.
weed
Sugar tends to make me more and more depressed.
Go to google and type the word ';chi';
give up drinking or have a hair of the dog
