Hi. I am a high school senior who will be entering college in Fall 2008. I don't know where I'm going, but wherever I go I will probably end up trying to transfer to Barnard. Anyways, I'm in a major rut right now. My parents don't have a lot of money, in fact they basically have nothing. My dream for the past few years (besides Barnard) has been to paticipate in one of the summer study programs offered at Barnard, Brown, or Columbia. These programs are not only selective, but expensive. I have NO money at all. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? I won't give up on my dreams. I just won't. I got FIRED from my job that was supposed to help me save up for the money to pay for a college program like one of these because of all my schoolwork. Guess all that studying didn't help much anyways.I need advice/help now.?
Well, first of all, don't be down on yourself. All the studying that you did will help you one day in the future. Second, research, research, research. Look online for Federal Grants - they are out there and there is a TON of money. You can also enter into competitions through all sorts of organizations for money - research online. Also, get a job. I know you just got fired, but don't stop, keep going. If you want to go to school bad enough, you will find a way. Have no mercy and charge through the barriers!I need advice/help now.?
A lot of these summer programs have scholarships available. Make contacts at the school you want to go and let them know how serious you are. Personal contacts mean a lot! Good Luck.
