Please help with repair advice on a pontoon boat.?

It's my friend's boat (party barge). There is a hole in one of the pontoons and some water is getting in. He doesn't want to just repair the hole. He heard of a friend who drilled a bigger hole and filled the pontoon with some kind of foam. Have you ever heard of this? What kind of store or business does it?Please help with repair advice on a pontoon boat.?
welder will make it good as new.

the foam is still a good idea, to keep it from filling with water if it gets busted again.

but even the best 2-part foams will get waterlogged given enough exposure to water.

you can buy it at west marine, in the store or online, or www.iboats.comPlease help with repair advice on a pontoon boat.?
You could use a 2 part foam. BUT, the wrong kind can absorb water and make the boat heavier, reduce performance and even sink it. Be sure to use the marine grade nonabsorbing type
a welded patch is the only real answer. Any other type of repair could void any future insurance claim and expose owner to liability should something happen
I'd have it MIG welded.
