Similar bridesmaid dresses & advice ~help needed~?

I'm trying to decide between a beach or garden wedding overlooking the ocean. What are your suggestions? I'm worried that if I do it on the beach, my dress will get dirty, sandy and maybe even wet, but I love beach weddings and think the backdrop would be great for pictures!!

Or, should I have my wedding in a private garden, behind my sister's house in Long Island, overlooking the ocean and then go with the bridal party to the beach for pictures? Or should I have my wedding on the beach and have a backup cheaper dress to wear for my reception/afterparty in case it does get dirty?

This is the dress I'm going to wear:

My bridal bouquet-cascading orchids:

My hair will be down %26amp; curled with either a flower or a headband. If I go with flowers, should I wear a daisy, orchid or some other flower (like a lily)?? What do you suggest?

I'd like my bridesmaids to either wear red or yellow cocktail dresses.

Should I tell them the color and let them choose their own styles or should I choose 2 dresses and let them vote on them, with the majority ruling?

I really like this Bari Jay dress, which has a beachy feel, but I don't know if the yellow (suntan) will blend too much with the sand.

What do you think? Should I look for a brighter yellow dress?

What do you think of the SAME DRESS but in the red color? Would the gerber daisy/rose bouquet match nicely with these dresses?

I also like this coral/red bridesmaid dress:

Is this bridesmaid dress too fancy for a beach wedding?

Do you have any bridesmaid cocktail dresses (either red or yellow) suggestions for under $150?

Their bouquets are going to be red gerber daisies %26amp; yellow roses with crystal pins on the daisies and stem.

Thanks!Similar bridesmaid dresses %26amp; advice ~help needed~?
1. Beach wedding. If that is really what you want then why not? Your dress is going to get dirty in a garden wedding too - but it shouldn't get so dirty that you will need a different dress for the reception (unless you fall into the water or in some mud!)

2. Love your dress!

3. Use the orchid in your hair since that is what is in your bouquet.

4. I would personally take my bridesmaids out trying on dresses and see what styles suit all of them. Keep them involved. You can tell them what style and colour once you have seen for yourself and heard their arguments for the dresses they like. (Unless you are buying the dresses yourself - in which case you would have a bit more of a say)

5. Love the first dress (in suntan). It will suit your other choices nicely. If you want more colour then the coral in this dress would be lovely too - but I don't think you would have a problem with suntan. Either one is lovely.

6. No to the second bridesmaids dress. It just isn't as nice or elegant as everything else you have decided on.

7. Firstly - I have found a sale on the 1st dress - yay!

Secondly, here are some other dresses you may (or may not) be interested in...

As soon as I read that you wanted yellow bridesmaids dresses for a beach wedding I immediately thought of this dress - it is very pretty and you could dress it up with some more fancier jewellery to suit your dress.

This one is a bit of a show piece - and very similar in style to your dress - but will only work if your bridesmaids are reasonably skinny. It is a bit more fun and funky than the styles you have looked at so far - so it depends on your bridesmaids and what would suit them I guess.

But personally I would have to say my favourite is still the first one you chose. It is very elegant and your bridesmaids will easily be able to wear it again.

8. Regarding the bridesmaid's flowers - why not use gerbers and orchids or roses and orchids - just so it matches in with your bouquet? It doesn't have too - but since your bouquet is so simple and elegant I wouldn't try to add in more flowers - especially ones that are so different (like the gerber daisies). Roses and orchids is a very elegant look whereas the gerbers with orchids would be more fun and bring in the more casual beach aspect. Either would be lovely - but seeing that your dresses are more elegant I would be tempted to go with the roses and orchids - I think that would be stunning (and I acutally had those as my wedding flowers!)Similar bridesmaid dresses %26amp; advice ~help needed~?
your dress is gorgeous! the suntan yellow dress is the perfect dress for your girls! the bouquets are perfect! you can have the best of both worlds - use your sister's garden for your wedding - you'll have the beauty of the garden with the long view of the ocean as a backdrop! sounds picture perfect sweetie.

its all going to be absolutely beautiful and your wedding photos are going to be the envy of everyone! best wishes and happy wedding!
OMG!!!! I freakin LOVE love your dress!!!! That is gorgeous!!

I think the bouquet is also gorgeous!! I love the orchids but Lillies would be really pretty too! So I would go with which ever is cheaper....

I would go with the yellow or champagney color dress. I don't think it will blend too much with the sand

You seem to have pretty good taste - I would think whatever you picked out would go good with anything.
I think your Wedding Gown is very pretty and sexy, the yellow bridesmaids dresses will match the sand and the red is a little to fancy for a beach wedding.

If your going to have the Garden Wedding then go with the yellow bridesmaid dress their both lovely choices. Your bouquets should work well.
I like the red. Remember this is your day and the lighter the bridesmaid dresses are the less yours is going to stand out!
i like the yellow dress.
I LOVE your dress %26amp; floral arrangements. Hair down with curls is perfect. Either a beach wedding or a garden wedding would be appropriate with that look. Keep an eye out for botanical gardens in your area. That might give you the background you're after without all the sand - and they're usually fairly reasonably priced.

For the girls gowns... I think you're on the right track. Invite your bridesmaids (or at least as many as can go) to dress-shop with you. Offer to buy them lunch and make it fun. Decide on the color %26amp; length in advance (much less confusion). Red is great for every season and suits most skin tones, yellow is great in the spring or early summer and looks great if your bridal party is tan or darker skin-toned. Coral is HOT HOT HOT right now. Reddish Coral looks absolutely amazing in photos. Alfred angelo has several beautiful styles.

Bring photos of the ';look'; you're going for, but leave it pretty open. Let the girls choose %26amp; model their favorite styles for you. Take lots of photos and keep it upbeat and fun. You might be surprised. Most women have a good sense of what will look awesome on them, and what they photograph well in. Leave the price range up to them and have them agree on their favorite cut/style. If they start arguing over one or two styles, politely thank the saleswoman, leave that store and go to another one entirely.

The maid of honor can get away with wearing the same color but different style, I think it's fun to do dress shopping with her separately. My MOH and I went shopping for our dresses at the same time.
Make sure you try on the first Bari Jay dress if you want that one. I wanted my bridesmaids to wear that, but when they tried it on they all looked HUGE in it. Even the tiny girls. The torso on it is long so if you're not careful it hits you funny and just makes you look super wide.
