Alright; so I'm in marching band and we have section leaders. I'm a sophomore and the last section leader was a junior. He's a good section leader in my opinion, my only thing with him was that he let the section goof off a little too much sometimes. But other than that he's great. And he got in trouble a couple of times like with the school I don't know the stories exactly but I think it was kind of serious.
Since we had co-section leaders before I thought the band direction would make me co-section leader when I went to the interview but instead he made me section leader. (Co-section leader is normally under the section leader)
I want the spot as section leader; but I feel bad for having it even though I feel like I've earned it in a way. And the other section leader guy is going to be graduating next year. So I thought my band director would make me co-section leader so I could learn the ropes but he obviously feels like I'm ready for it and I think I am too.
It's just that the other guy was really dedicated to band and he was section leader for two years and I feel like it's unfair for me to take it from him especially since we're pretty good friends.
I talked to him about it; I said I would talk to the band director about letting him be section leader as well if he wanted me to but he said it was up to me.
On one hand I want to help him out but on the other hand I don't want to seem like I'm ungrateful, weak, and not ready for it to the band director.
So I'm in a bit of a moral dilema. Help my friend out and look like I'm not ready, appear ungrateful, and unsure (and probably lose the spot) or don't help him and look like an ****** but keep the spot.Uh. I'm in need of advice; help?
okUh. I'm in need of advice; help?
The band director obviously thinks you are better suited to be section leader. Seize the opportunity before it's too late. Your friend already had his turn.
