My ISP cought me for illegal downloading... advice / help?!?

Well... it's a worst fear to many and it may be coming true for me right now...

My Internet service provider emailed me with an email from a tv station that has found out that I have been downloading illegal copys of tv shows. The station told me what I downloaded and the program I used. This email is a warning it said and asked me to delete all illegal programs and downloaded material and then reply back with my actions to delete all things illegal.

Does this mean I am under investigation - am I under inspection / monitoring and will I be persecuted in the future?

Anyone have some insight or a similar experience? My ISP cought me for illegal downloading... advice / help?!?
Agreed - definitely wipe your hard drive. You want that stuff gone.

Then change your ISP. Because the good ones don't sell out to the media like that.My ISP cought me for illegal downloading... advice / help?!?
firstly, you should make sure that the email is from the real isp (lots of people can send you spam pretending there the isp provider.

secondly, if the email is real you should :Format your hard drive, or preferably replace. Because if they decided to go search though your computer, even with your hard drive replaced they can still recover information. If you get a new hard drive they won't be able to recover the data, you should also destroy your old hdd. The best thing to do would probably be change your internet service provider, and use proxy software, (make sure the server that is used by the software is private not public, because public servers can be traced back).
If it says it's a warning, it's just that. Get rid of the files and don't do it any more.
