For my 20th birthday, i want to get a tattoo. I want just a little one on my wrist and i want it to say ';let go';. The saying means a lot to me- it's simple yet strong. Plus i like the idea of it being on my wrist since it is right above my hands which ';let go'; of things.
I initially wanted it in french- but i am not french and i live in the US- so i have no idea how to properly word it. I've consulted people who speak french but i get a few different ways to say it. I like it in french since it gives it mystery, but i definitely do not want to get the wrong saying or an improper way of saying it on my wrist for the rest of my life. So would it be wiser just to get it in english? What do you think?Tattoo meaning advice/help?
get it in french and you will never hear the end of it
';oh what does it mean? what language is it? French?are you French? No?Is your mom French then? Why French?'; etc
get it in english and people will read it and not ask you dumb questions that are only fun for the first 4 days.Tattoo meaning advice/help?
allons-y means ';let's go'; :P haha.
but let go as in the way you mean it is not the same in french. you can say ';laisser tomber,'; to let fall, laisser aller, meaning to let go as in to let somehting leave... but it is not the same as in English!!
I would probably get a symbol instead of words (or get the words under it very small- maybe swirled wings or something with that phrase in there somewhere?) What language are you leaning towards? I'd do french (because that language is hot as hell, but that's my opinion!) Good luck!!!!
I think wanting to put it in another language is beautiful, but that's my opinion. You should definitely wait until you're 100% concrete on what you want, YOU'RE the one who has to live with it.
well.. i guess it would be wiser to get it in english because you don't know the prpoer way to say it in french... and u are american...
english!
well in french it says
';laissez vont'; i like in french, but make sure you know how to prounce it
personally, i think that for something simple words are played out. i would suggest doing it in a more obscure language, or if you are a littl ebit of a fantasy weirdo, Elvish from Lord of the rings is really sweet looking
